1981?
John’s interest in building things began at a young age, influenced by his father’s work in manufacturing. When John showed a keen interest in craftsmanship, his dad gifted him a radial arm saw for Christmas during his freshman year of high school. This gift ignited John’s passion for creating, and he began making furniture as a way to earn money throughout high school.
To this day, the DeWalt radial arm saw his dad bought him still sits in his shop. At one point, John even expressed a desire to run away to Switzerland and become a cabinet maker, but his dad encouraged him to pursue a college education instead, laying the foundation for John’s future in construction.
1981
In 1981, John began building projects for a Chicago client, doing business as Wood Doctors in the southern Wisconsin and Chicago metropolitan area. Throughout college, he worked as an independent building contractor, focusing on various projects.
John graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor’s degree in Light Building Construction, emphasizing Construction Supervision and minoring in Business Administration. After completing his degree, he registered Engerman Contracting, LLC, in Wisconsin.
1990
In 1990 John bought some property behind the country club countryside Lane. He built a swinging bachelor apartment pad.
1992
